Privacy policy
OpenPet (openpet.fit). Last updated 11 October 2026.
OpenPet shows you what your own data says about you. This policy explains what OpenPet holds about you, why, and what you can do about it. In this policy "we" and "us" means OpenPet.
What we hold
From the sources you connect. OpenPet reads data you have brought into your Vana account (Oura, Strava, ChatGPT, Claude, Spotify or YouTube) only after you approve each source in Vana. We read each source, work out what it shows, and then discard the records we read. We keep what we worked out: numbers for each day (for example your sleep, readiness and activity scores), the sentences OpenPet shows you, and, for ChatGPT and Claude, a recurring topic word drawn from your conversations. We never keep the text of your conversations.
What you type. The notes you log about your day, the goals you set and the replies you tap.
To run the service. Your Vana account address, the approval Vana gives us and the address of your Vana Personal Server, which sources you have connected, a record of each read and its fee, a record of what happens in the app, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in. Our server logs record your account address, the address of your Personal Server and which data category was read, never the contents.
Some of this is health information, which Australian privacy law treats as sensitive. We collect it only with your consent, which you give source by source when you approve it in Vana.
Why we hold it
To show you your pet and what it noticed, to keep the service running and secure, and to pay the network's per-read fee. We do not use your information for advertising or marketing, we do not sell it, we do not use third-party analytics, and no AI model reads it.
Who sees it
- Our hosting provider. Our servers are in Germany.
- The Vana network. Each read is recorded on the public Vana blockchain: your account address, the app, the data category and the time. That record is public and permanent, and neither we nor Vana can delete it. The data you connect lives in your own Vana account under Vana's terms, not ours.
- Anyone the law requires us to tell, such as a court or a regulator.
No one else.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Removing a source in OpenPet deletes what we worked out from that source. Delete everything, on the Sources screen, deletes everything in our database that is keyed to your account and ends your connections in OpenPet. We keep our record of past reads (the data category, time and fee) with your address removed. Copies in our server backups and logs are removed within 30 days. Anything in your Vana account is yours to delete there.
How we protect it
Your information travels encrypted between your browser and our servers. Access to our servers is restricted to the people who operate OpenPet.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing openpet02@proton.me. We act on a request once we have confirmed it comes from the account holder, for example by asking you to confirm it while signed in to OpenPet. We reply within 30 days. OpenPet is for people aged 18 or over.
Complaints
Email openpet02@proton.me and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
